Reece James (born 8 December 1999) is an English professional footballer, who plays as the right-back of Premier League club Chelsea and the England national team.
James began his time at the Chelsea academy at the age of a young player and became a professional in the year 2017, during which he was captain of the under-18s squad for a win in the FA Youth Cup and was named the Academy player of the season. A productive loan period for Wigan Athletic of the Championship was followed by his promotion into the Chelsea first team on his return in 2019 following which he started building his reputation as a frequent player at right-back. He was also awarded a long-term deal extension on January 1, 2020.
After playing for England at different levels of youth, James was called up to the full international squad first time in the month of October in 2020 He was the first player to be given an appearance in the team against Wales.

Childhood and early life
James was born in Redbridge, Greater London, and was a student at Isleworth and Syon School. He is part of a footballing family. His younger sister Lauren plays professional soccer. Lauren was signed by Chelsea Women in July 2021. They have a dad Nigel is a coach in the game.

As a kid, Reece used to do an additional training sessions with his trainer.

James was part of the under-20 team which traveled in 2019 to participate at the Toulon Tournament and was carried off on a stretcher due to injury to his ankle ligament during the first quarter of the final group game , which was a loss to Chile on June 7, 2019. On October 4, the 4th of October, James joined the squad of the Under-21s for the very first time. James made his debut for the under-21 team in the 2021’s 3-0 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification victory over Albania on the 15th of November, 2019.
On the 5th of October, 2020, James was selected as a rookie to the first team from Manager Gareth Southgate following an injury to Raheem Sterling. James was first introduced on the 8th of October in the sandbox of Wembley Stadium, coming on in the 58th minute as a substitute for Kieran Trippier during a 3-0 win against Wales. James was dismissed for dissent following the final whistle of his second game, which was against Denmark. James was selected as a 26-man England team of Euro 2020.
On November 20, 2021, the player declared that he was in the top performance of his career and that he was hoping to be England’s first choice right-back.
