Penélope Cruz cried after filming her first love scene at 18
Oscar-winning actress Penélope Cruz has revealed that she was devastated after filming her first love scene at age 18 because she feared she’d never be able to work again.
Cruz, 43, who appeared on the November cover of Esquire magazine, told the publication about the love scene from the 1992 movie “Jamon Jamon.” The movie also starred her future husband, Javier Bardem.
“I had a feeling that the movie (‘Jamon, Jamon’) was going to be special,” Cruz told Esquire. “I knew the script was good. I knew there was something very unique out there. Even though I hadn’t seen many scripts before, it was very clear, very bold, very refreshing. And yes, it was very sexy.
I thought, “There’s character there, there’s a style, the material is really good.” Of course, I wasn’t looking forward to these scenes, but I did. Everyone was really respectful, aware that I was 18 years old. I remember the last day of shooting, crying ‘What if I didn’t shoot a movie again?’ I was saying. The emotion was devastating. “Who knows when I will see these people again? Including Javier.
Bardem gave an interview to the broadcast last year and remembered “Jamon, Jamon.”
“There was obvious chemistry between us,” Bardem said of Cruz. “I mean, it’s all in the movie; It’s like a certificate of our passion. One day we will have to show it to the children – imagine! “Mom, dad, what did you do together at the cinema? My children, you should celebrate this movie because you are here for it.
