Moon Knight Episode 4 Review– Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) is closing in on Ammit’s grave. Khonshu (voiced by F. Murray Abraham) is trapped inside a new miniature statue, and with this imprisonment of the unruly moon god, other Egyptian gods put the whole situation behind him.

Moon Knight Episode 4 Story

Moon Knight armor is unavailable after Khonshu exits the stage, and Mark Spector (Oscar Isaacs) remains a divisive figure to both Layla El-Fauly (May Calamawi) and Steven Grant personas. In other words, the end of the world as they know it seems imminent, and there’s no help in sight. Read Also- KGF Chapter 2 Review

Moon Knight Episode 4 Review

Moon Knight Episode 4– The budding love triangle between Layla, Steven, and Mark reaches critical mass at the beginning of the episode, which does little to mend the fractured relationship between the protagonist’s two personalities. It’s a bold move to lead rather than keep tension on the background low, but as it turns out, there’s even more trouble on the horizon.

Moon Knight Episode 4 Review

Moon Knight Episode 4– In many ways, a large part of the plot treats it as a Laila episode. She is the character who gets the most plot exposure, successfully fights off a deadly mummy-priest creature in the episode’s biggest action beat, and even shows off her attitude to Harrow’s mind games. That she sees right through the ways of the villain.

Unfortunately, Ammeet’s servant is able to whip up a secret of what really hurt Laila – the fact that Mark knows more about his father’s death than he does.

Nevertheless, the moment the action moves into the mental hospital, Layla appears as one of the patients. Did the badass Laila audience always know Mark’s imagination?

It remains to be seen, but it would certainly be a shame to lose out on the complex buildup one of the MCU’s best new characters has ever got for such a plot twist.

After all, as interesting as Layla has been so far, her interactions with Harrow confirm her involvement in one of the most iconic Moon Knight stories: the death of the father of her comic book counterpart, and the reincarnation of Mark Spector. That’s what the MCU wants to show viewers, so at least, it seems reasonable to expect a flashback scene of the event that serves as the origin story of both Moon Knight and Layla.

Usually, getting the protagonist shot in the chest is the biggest blow on any show, but true to its offbeat nature, “Moon Knight” finds a way to raise the stakes in the very next scene. After Harrow is shot in the chest, Mark awakens in a mysterious facility that turns out to be a mental hospital. There, his friends and foes serve as patients and orderlies, and the place is dotted with evidence that he has imagined everything that has happened on the show so far.

The scene is apparently inspired by writer Jeff Lemire and artist Greg Smallwood’s “Lunatic” comic book storyline, which begins when Mark Spector finds himself locked in a strange hospital along with several of his acquaintances, and a smattering of evidence. The whole group receives that he has been there since he was 12 – which would mean that his adventures as a Moon Knight are just a figment of his tortured imagination.

One of the implied opponents of this story is none other than Ammut (the comic book’s “Moon Night” spelling of Big Bad Ammut), who is Mark’s psychiatrist Dr. May or may not hide behind Emmett’s identity. Fair enough, it’s Arthur Harrow who plays the Doctor here. Though he doesn’t actually spew a crocodile head in this version of the story, he brings a trademark brand of vaguely menacing warmth to his scene with Mark, which is arguably even more creepy.
