Nancy Kerrigan is an American actor , and was a former figure skating champion. She competed for the US at a number of international skating events and has won numerous awards and prizes. Kerrigan began to develop an interest in skating at a young age. Her parents supported her talents and organized professional training for her despite their modest income. Gradually, Kerrigan started getting noticed at the national level. She was a participant in the ‘US Figure Skating World Championships’, and placed fifth in 1989, and fourth in the year 1990. As Kerrigan set out to achieve higher levels in her career, she was attacked. The attacker was hired by the former husband of her rival Tonya Harding. The incident made Kerrigan famous throughout the world. Kerrigan recuperated from her injuries, and she made an impressive comeback when she won an Olympic silver medal in the 1994 Winter Olympics. Childhood & Early Life
Nancy Ann Kerrigan was born on the 13th of October 1969, located in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Her dad, Daniel Kerrigan, was a welder. Her mom, Brenda, was a homemaker. Kerrigan has two older brothers, Michael and Mark. Her brothers played hockey and as a youngster she would accompany them to the skating rink. Later on, Kerrigan developed an interest in figure skating. At the age of six she began her training in figure skating.
Kerrigan was the winner of her first competition at the Boston Open at the age of nine. Following this win her parents focused more on her education. Her father was employed at three different jobs to pay for her education. He also employed at various ice skating arenas to pay for his daughter’s education.
Kerrigan was a student at the ‘Stoneham High School. Then she enrolled in the Emmanuel College and studied business. Kerrigan focused more on her skating at the time. She was up early in the morning to go to the skating sessions, before heading to school. Kerrigan studied under Theresa Martin, until she was 16. She was then coached by Denise Morrissey for a brief period of time. Then, she was instructed by famous figure skating trainers Evy as well as Mary Scotvold, who continued to coach her throughout the remainder of her life.
In the 1987 US Figure Skating Championship’ in 1987, Nancy Kerrigan secured the fourth spot in the junior competitions. She was a great skier, but had a weak performance in mandatory figures. In 1988 she made her debut as a senior and finished in the twelfth place. Kerrigan made improvements to her national rankings throughout the subsequent two years, and secured fifth place in 1989, and the fourth place in the year 1990. Nancy Kerrigan married her agent, Jerry Solomon, on September 9th 1995. Solomon was married for the third time. There are three sons. Matthew, Brian, and Nicole. When she was trying to conceive, she experienced six miscarriages within the span of eight years. Kerrigan reside in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, with her family.
The father of Kerrigan’s, Daniel, died in 2010 after her father’s death. The brother Mark has been accused of murdering their father.
