New Delhi- Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar turned 49 on Sunday (April 24). With a hundred tons in his bag, breaking every record in the book, Sachin is not just a cricketer. He is considered as the God of Cricket. But there are still some facts about this legendary batsman that fans are unaware of.

It is a well documented fact that India legend Sachin Tendulkar made his official international debut in 1989 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Karachi, but very few are aware of the fact that the batting maestro was first introduced to international cricket. The taste came when he played for the Pakistan cricket team playing against India at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

The 48-year-old, in his autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’, recalled the incident two years before his India debut in 1987, taking the field for Pakistan. The India legend also has to wonder if the then Pakistan captain Imran Khan had appointed him.

I don’t know if Imran Khan remembers this or has any idea that I once fielded for his Pakistan team,” writes Tendulkar.

The Master Blaster further recalls that Pakistan cricketers Javed Miandad and Abdul Qadir left the field during the lunch break. As a standby fielder, Sachin was asked to field for the visiting team.

Tendulkar also mentioned an incident how he took a catch of Kapil Dev in the match, but could not reach the ball despite running for a long distance. He explained that if he had been placed at mid-on instead of long-on, he could have played a part in the dismissal for Pakistan.
