Luka Modric (Croatian pronunciation: Born 9 September 1985) is a Croatian professional footballer, who plays as an attacking midfielder for La Liga club Real Madrid and is captain of the Croatia national team. He is primarily a central midfielder, however, he can also be an attacking midfielder as well as an attacking midfielder. He is widely recognized as one of the top midfielders of all time and as the most outstanding Croatian footballer to ever play.
Born in Zadar Modric’s early years coincided with Zadar’s involvement in the Croatian War of Independence which caused the displacement of his family. Luka Modric was born on 9 September 1985. He has been raised within the town of Modrici that is component of Zaton Obrovacki, a village located at the foot of the south-facing slopes of mountain Velebit located in the northern part of Zadar within SR Croatia, then a republic in SFR Yugoslavia. Modric is the oldest of the children of Stipe Modric, who hails from Modric along with Radojka Dopud of Krusevo close to Obrovac and Radojka Dopud from Krusevo near Obrovac. Both began their careers in a knitting manufacturing facility. In those times the city was bombarded by thousands of bombs upon the city, and playing football was an opportunity to get away from the reality of the war. He remembers the war as a stressful period for his family, and a time that has shaped his character. He also stated that the war was not a big issue for him. the war since he grew up with several other children, and their parents didn’t let it impact their childhood.
In this difficult situation, Modric began playing football in the hotel’s parking area. In 1992, he also attended primary school and an athletic academy that was funded using the money that the family owned, often assisted by Modric’s uncle.
