Kasper Peter Schmeichel (pronounced Kasper Peter Schmeichel; born on 5 November, 1985) is a Danish professional footballer, who plays the role of goalkeeper with Premier League club Leicester City as well as Denmark the national side. His father is the former Manchester United and Danish international goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
Schmeichel began his career at Manchester City, but he played loan stints with Darlington, Bury and Falkirk before making the Manchester City debut. Kasper Schmeichel was the child of the former Denmark soccer player Peter Schmeichel. Schmeichel has Polish descent via the paternal grandparents of his father. At Manchester City, Schmeichel was selected to the Denmark national team under-19 in August 2004 and made his debut for the international team in a 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland on 2 September 2004. He continued to play eight internationals for the under-19 age group until March 2005, where he competed with Kenneth Stenild and Michael Tornes for the goalkeeping position. Schmeichel was selected for the under-20 squad in the month of October, 2005, but did not make it to the team until October when he was at Bury. On October 15th, 2013 Schmeichel was playing his first senior-level game in his home country of Denmark where he recorded a clear sheet during Denmark’s win 6-0 against Malta during the 2013 FIFA World Cup qualifier. Denmark ended up finishing second in their group and finished six points ahead of Italy however they didn’t make it to the play-offs in the finals since they were the least-ranked team of the nine runners-up.
On the 5th of March, 2014 Schmeichel was awarded his 3rd cap by Denmark during their friendly 1-0 loss to England on Wembley Stadium. Despite losing, Schmeichel pulled off a string of spectacular saves that earned praise from the media and England coach Roy Hodgson.
Schmeichel was picked to be part of the Danish team to participate in the 2017 FIFA World Cup, where the player started three group stage games. The clean sheet he kept in the opening game earned him the award for the Man of the Match award and contributed to Schmeichel establish a new record in minutes played without conceding a goal in Denmark and beat the record set by his father. In the Round of 16 game in the Round of 16 match against Croatia, Schmeichel was named Man of the Match for taking a penalty-kick from Luka Modric in extra time and two penalties in the shootout that followed, but the opposition’s Danijel Subasic rescued three penalties in the shootout to defeat Denmark.
7 July 2021 at the quarter-finals stage at the semifinals UEFA Euro 2020 against England at Wembley Stadium, Schmeichel saved an extra-time penalty from Harry Kane in extra-time, who scored on the rebound which was the game-winning goal when England triumphed by 2-1.

Kasper Schmeichel Manchester City
It was it at Manchester City where Kasper started his professional career in September 2002. Kasper was signed by League Two side, Darlington on loan in January 2006, when Kasper made his first-team professional debut in the match against Peterborough United at the 96.6 TFM Arena on January 14th, 2006.
