Curious footage of Jesse Williams on Broadway leaked online
The Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing more than 50,000 theater actors and stage managers, spoke about the actor’s nude video that was leaked online. On Tuesday, they issued a statement condemning the illegal filming of actors in nude scenes.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the creation and distribution of photos and videos of our members during a nude scene,” said Kate Shindle, president of the Actors’ Equity Association.
He added that as actors, they play several vulnerable characters on stage to tell their tough stories. Regardless, that doesn’t mean they’re authorizing anyone to share those sensitive moments with anyone by sneaking a device into the cinema and recording it.
‘Whoever did this knew that not only were they filming the actors without their consent, they were also clearly violating the theatre’s ban on recording and distribution,’ Shindle continued.
The union also stated that Williams’ leaked clip was an act of “sexual harassment and a gruesome violation of consent.”
According to Out Magazine, the leaked clip that is currently popping up on social media platforms is from a completely nude locker shower scene. In the series, Williams’ character Darren Lemming is accompanied by Shane Mungitt (Michael Oberholtzer) as a double bully.
‘Take Me Out’ is a remake of the 2003 Tony Award-winning play composed by Richard Greenberg. The play is scheduled to hit the Broadway theater by June 11.
The show follows the story of a bi-racial baseball player named Lemming. He appears to be struggling on whether or not to come out as gay.
On Monday, the stage play was nominated for four Tony Award nominations, including Best Animation of a Play. Williams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Michael Oberholtzer were nominated for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.
