In a recent interview regarding Aquaman 2 and the future of Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Mamoa teased more Ben Affleck Batman. So I guess he’s DCU’s Batman, maybe? So it’s really no secret that Ben Affleck is back as Batman, at least for whatever they did in the reshoots for Aquaman. In a recent interview, when asked about this because Jason Mamoa spoiled it on his Instagram, AP Entertainment wanted to know what exactly is the idea, why was this a thing, and why is Ben Affleck back, and what can we expect to see? Well, he said.
You can expect to see more Batman. Ben Affleck specifically. There’s going to be more Batman. Ok, I’m pretty sure most people will be happy that Ben Affleck will in fact be playing more Batman, but the extent of it is he’s just going to play more Batman. We don’t really know what, right? Like there’s no big major announcement on if he’s just going to continue to play DCU Batman permanently now, despite what some other reports have said.
And then contrary to those reports, other reports have said that he is coming back and they might be tying in the Batman or who really knows? Whatever they decide to do, at least. Like, there’s a Batman in the DC EU. I know it’s a little weird to think of it that way, but we just went through a couple of years where the DCU didn’t have a Batman and Ben Affleck wasn’t Batman and he wasn’t even back for the Flash.
So at least there’s some stuff going on here that’s kind of. Showing signs of a direction, and in my opinion, I like Ben Affleck as Batman. We just didn’t get enough of his Batman and I hope that we can get more. So maybe if they’re going to test the waters, no pun intended here, with the reaction to him maybe being a little bit different, a little bit more, I would say not so dour and. Kill mongare like he wasn’t the last appearance, but the last proper appearance.
I guess that may be Superman because the Snyder cut into justice, so he didn’t. They still count the Justice League as continuity, right? Or did they say they. I don’t remember anymore. They’re so confusing. Ok, so screw Justice League, whatever. But they’re probably going to have to try to work hard to make people, you know, buy into the idea that he’s back as Batman. And then some people will question why isn’t the other guy Batman? So I guess that’s an uphill battle.
But overall, if he stays around, I don’t think many people will be disappointed or angry. So certainly keep him on. If he’s back and Jason says he’s going to be Batman for longer and he’s doing more Batman, cool. Anyways, on second thought, I think they did say that the theatrical cut of Justice League is Canon, right? so.
