Luca may have just been released, but Pixar is already excited for its next animated adventure, Turning Red. Following similar situations on Luca and Brave, the studio has proven to be big fans of character transformations, and Turning Red follows awkward teenage girl Mei Lee, who goes through a change when she gets too excited. However, instead of transforming into an average green fighting machine like the Hulk, Mei transforms into a cute but big and somewhat clumsy red panda.

Turning Red: Cast and Topic!

Rosalie Chiang will make her debut as Mei Lee in Turning Red. She has previously acted in short films Soiled and The Interns. Sandra Oh will bring some star power as Ming, Mei’s domineering mother, and Oh is of course known for playing Cristina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2014 and for portraying the award-winning character in the hit spy thriller Killing Eve.

Domee Shi wrote and directed this movie. He directed the Oscar-winning Pixar short film Bao, which was previously played in theaters before The Incredibles 2. He has worked on several Pixar films, including as a storyboard artist on Toy Story 4 and Inside Out.

Going Red is about the strange thirteen-year-old Mei Lee, who struggles with the changing interests and relationships of puberty, and turns into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited.

This doesn’t come to the aid of his well-meaning but overprotective mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter – an unfortunate reality for a teenager. It looks like Mei’s transformation will serve as a metaphor for the changes in puberty, and the mother-daughter relationship will be at the center of the movie, and it’s the perfect opportunity for Pixar to get their heart racing once again.

Going Red: Release date and Trailer!

The movie is set in Toronto in the mid-2000s, so the Backstreet Boys track was used in the teaser. It can’t be worse for a teenager than being embarrassed at school by their mother.
