Who is Dr. Paul Palmer? What was the cause of Dr. Paul Farmer’s death?
An American medical anthropologist, physician, and author, known for providing health care to people around the world, Dr. Paul Farmer died Monday at the age of 62. Dr. co-founder of Boston-based, global nonprofit Partners in Health. Paul Farmer , sadly passed away in Rwanda while sleeping from an acute heart attack. The Boston-based charity confirmed the death of Palmer on Monday and described it as “disastrous”, adding that he died suddenly while sleeping while teaching in Rwanda from a sudden heart attack.
Farmer co-founded Partners in Health, an international non-profit organization, in 1987 to provide modern health care to the world’s poorest and sickest people. According to the organization, it is currently active in 12 countries.
The organization began in the rural village of Kange on the Central Highlands of Haiti and spread to Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
He was also the subject of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Mountain Beyond the Mountain: The Quest of Dr. Paul Palmer, a Man Who Will Heal the World,” published in 2003.
According to Partners in Health, Dr. Paul Farmer was head of global health equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He has written many articles on health, human rights and social inequality.

According to Harvard Medical School, which tweeted its condolences. Palmer was a doctor, medical anthropologist, and humanitarian who dedicated his life to improving the health of people around the world.
“It was thanks to Paul that we have a global surgical and social change program,” he quoted in a tweet. “He has been our greatest advocate and friend, and we will continue his legacy of hope, dignity and access to health for all,” he said.
