Damian Emiliano Martinez Romero (born 2 September 1992) is an Argentine professional footballer who is a goalkeeper at Premier League club Aston Villa and for the Argentina National team.
Martinez studied at the Independiente youth academy before joining Arsenal in the year 2010. In Arsenal Martinez played as an understudy and was loaned out to several English clubs before making his way into the starting squad in 2019and helping the club win an FA Cup and FA Community Shield. In September of 2020, Martinez moved to fellow Premier League club Aston Villa for a fee of PS20 million. Martinez was also presented with the 2021 Copa America’s Golden Glove award as the most efficient keeper at the tournament for his efforts.
