BT and EE have appointed Publicis Groupe’s Digitas UK to the customer engagement business.
WPP’s Wunderman Thompson previously managed the CRM account that BT and EE gave Digitas without a sales pitch.
In addition, Saatchi & Saatchi, one of the Publicis Groupe agencies, took over the BT Sport advertising business.
Wunderman Thomspon won the account in 2017 after a shootout against Omnicom’s Proximity London. Prior to this assignment, Ogilvy worked in the IT business and has owned the EE business since Publicis Chemistry merged with Digitas.
IT and EE’s media has been managed by WPP’s Essence since 2017, when Maxus and MEC moved during their merger to create Wavemaker.
A spokesperson for Wunderman Thompson said: “We’ve had the pleasure of working with BT on some brilliant campaigns that have resulted in over 80 awards, including the prestigious Cannes Lions for the BT Sport ‘Unscripted’ campaign.
We continue to work with IT in the IT Global and Enterprise divisions on integrated creative, data and technology briefs.”
Offer It turned to Publicis Groupe and BT for comment.
This move expands Publicis Groupe’s relationship with IT and EE. In August 2020, the telecommunications giant merged its advertising account into Saatchi & Saatchi. It had originally assigned the store to its brand brief in 2019. Neither movement included a formal step.
Prior to hiring Saatchi & Saatchi, BT had a 24-year relationship with Omnicom’s Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
