Cesar Azpilicueta Tánco (born on 28th August 1989) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays the position of center-back or right-back at Premier League club Chelsea, which he captains, as well as for the Spain nation’s team.
A child of Osasuna, Azpilicueta spent three seasons in La Liga before moving to Marseille and winning four major awards at his French club. In the summer of 2012, the club moved him to Chelsea and won the Europa League in his first season as well as a double domestic two years after. Personal life
Azpilicueta was born in Zizur Mayor, Navarre, to Patxi Azpilicueta, a painter and Charo Tanco who was a teacher at the primary school. Azpilicueta’s older brother Juan Pablo (born 1980) was also a soccer player. He was a midfielder and played solely in lower-league football. After his retirement, Juan Pablo transitioned into management. He most recently served as the manager at CD Subiza in Spain’s Tercera Division.
In June of 2015, the couple got married. He is a long-time partner of Adriana Guerendiain. Together, they have three children, including two daughters and one son. Adriana was the mother of the couple’s first daughter Martina in the month March 2014.
Since the year 2018, Azpilicueta has been a board member and co-owner of English non-league team Hashtag United, which plays in the Isthmian League North Division. In the year 2020, Azpilicueta announced the formation of his own team in esports, Falcons. He is the co-owner, together with Jose Antonio Cacho and Jesus Rincon who are the best athletes in Spain and have millions of YouTube viewers.
Azpilicueta can be described as trilingual. He speaks fluently Spanish, French, and English. In 2021, he’s working towards completing an online degree that is the MBA with a concentration in Business Management at the Berlin School of Business and Innovation.

Azpilicueta is a player for Spain under-21s in 2011.
In 2007 Azpilicueta was instrumental in helping to help the Spanish under-19 team take home in the UEFA European Championship. After that, he was transferred to the under-21s and was picked as a player for 2009 European Championships in Sweden where he played in three games before the final group stage.
On the 11th of May, 2010, the 20-year-old Azpilicueta was selected by the club’s manager Vicente del Bosque in a preliminary listing of the 30 best players in anticipation of the upcoming tournament of the FIFA World Cup. Azpilicueta was chosen to play in the 2012 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament held in Brazil He started the second game of group play against Tahiti in which Spain took 10-0 to set an unprecedented record for the biggest margin of victory in the tournament and was replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa at half-time in the final against hosts in a final defeat of 3-0.
As of the month June, Azpilicueta got selected as a representative for Spain at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He played as the right-back in the first team for the first two games with Chile and the Netherlands. Netherlands and Chile in the event that Spain was eliminated in the group stage.
Azpilicueta was also selected in the 23-man team for the 2017 World Cup in Russia, in addition to the squad of 24 players to play in UEFA Euro 2020. In the latter match event, he scored his debut senior international goal, and his team’s second goal of the 5-3 victory against Croatia during the first round of 16.
