Ahead of his debut in the MCU, Marvel is confirming a longstanding rumour that Namor the submariner originally was supposed to appear in the MCU way earlier than this upcoming film, and he was originally going to be the post-credit Stinger for the original Black Panther, which came out in 2018 Directly from the Marvel Studios and as a matter of fact, start a rumour. Anything comes out as directly from the president. Kevin Feige, in an interview with Empire Magazine, talks about the development of the original Black Panther and some of the things that they were discussing at the time, and specifically how Ryan Coogler already knew that for the SQL he wanted to use in more.
And this was way before they were even figuring out what the story for the SQL was going to be. And he said that when it came to the discussion, Ryan pitched the idea that at the end of Black Panther we would see the camera push through the palace in Wakanda and then it would rise up and follow a bunch of wet footsteps leading up to the throne, where then the camera woodcut, obviously revealing to us.
That name or has his eyes set on the prize aka the throne of Wakanda and he’s come here because he’s realised there’s turmoil in Wakanda and I can take advantage of this cuz I name or the opportunist. But during the development of everything else in the MCU and revising that they had to do something with Bucky Barnes and tie things together, they decided that it’s better to use the post-credit scene that they had with civil war to kind of note I. Things back to hey, here’s Bucky Barnes now, here’s his new standing, here’s him living a new wife.
And now we can actually just deal with Bucky Barnes in the next Avengers project and not have to explain what he was doing when he was death adware. He was and all this. So ultimately they decided it’s better to put Bucky in here because he’s gonna be an important player, literally in the next project coming up that’s gonna include Wakanda instead of hey let’s. Name or right now and then wait, who knows how long? So you can kind of see that the rumours that we had way back when that name or was something that they were trying to throw into the ending of the film is in fact true.
Now again a lot of people suspected this because it just made sense. You don’t get bigger than a war between walk and A plant is now again we know they are not doing a plan to send this, but you get what I’m saying. So overall it seems like they’ve been waiting to do name or for quiet. Long time.
