Most DC fans these days just want one coherent, a connected universe

Most DC fans these days just want one coherent, a connected universe where we don’t have to keep up with multiple versions of specific characters existing in their own little pockets and individual universes. We heard time and time again over the course of the last decade that that was the goal, and now that WB discovery is at the helm of everything, it looks like we’re back to the good old traditional embargo the character, and don’t let anybody else do anything with them. Enter JJ Abrams. Who’s locked down multiple characters nobody else will be allowed to use? I really struggle to understand why WB, Discovery, and DC believe that their fan base is complete idiots.

JJ Abrams is very much working on his projects that are supposed to be part of the Justice League

I really don’t understand this, but here’s the latest update per variety. Yes, JJ Abrams is very much working on his projects that are supposed to be part of the Justice League Dark brand, but again, there are other characters that are allegedly locked under that. And we don’t know the full extent of who he’s been able to embargo that nobody else can use, but among these are Madame Xanadu, Zatanna, Deadman, Swamp Thing, reportedly booster gold, and countless other characters that were set for that anthology series that got cancelled strange adventures. On top of this, Constantine is the big one, and it’s the Embargoing of Constantine that prevented the character from continuing to live on in other projects.

Or appear in projects that were in development that they considered him for sold. The character was just completely written out. Again, why why why why why? This literally is the dumbest thing. You’re not supposed to take these characters, take them out of the universe they exist, and shove them into something else and make them somehow exist only there, without all these other things that contribute. To who the character is. It’s at the time old argument of. Spiderman should be alone in his own universe, no? That literally takes Spiderman away from the comics how he is.

They should all coexist together. I really don’t understand what the point of something like this is when JJ’s projects, whatever they are, finally materialize. Ohh cool. Here’s all these characters and here’s swamp thing or booster Gold and Constantine. Check them out. Oh, but also these characters may appear as some sort of. Knock off bootleg version somewhere else or they might not appear there at all. What is the point of that? Why would you spend a decade chasing the MCU formula and trying to make a shared universe and then go? Only one version of this character can exist at a time.

But then you’re out here literally doing like Batmen now and like countless jokers. Where’s the messaging? None of this makes sense. This is exactly why DC Comics is where they’re right now, because of this.
