Salvador Ramos reportedly shot his grandmother in the face before going to school in a getaway car. He crashed into the car near the school.
Christopher Olivarez, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, reported that as soon as he arrived at Robb Elementary School, he opened fire on everyone, including children and teachers.
An hour later, a group of elite Border Patrol commandos, local police and county deputies set out for the area.
It was also reported that Ramos barricaded himself in a classroom with two windows. He killed many of his victims and also launched an attack on law enforcement.
The Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) forcibly entered the classroom after receiving the master key from the principal.
It was also stated that three officers entered the classroom gradually. During the shooting, one police officer distracted Ramos, while another was injured by shrapnel. However, a third agent managed to fatally shoot the suspect.

According to NBC, the BORTAC officer is trained to deal with all kinds of chaotic events. He’s been taught to deal with terrorist threats abroad, riots in ICE detention centres, and more.
Marsha Espinosa, deputy public relations secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, made a statement. She mentioned that both off-duty and off-duty CBP agents went to the scene. They assisted students and facilities with security and provided medical assistance.
“These Border Patrol Agents and other officers risking their own lives put themselves between the shooter and the boys on the scene to divert the shooter’s attention from potential victims and save lives,” Espinosa said.
