Contrary to the suggestions of his first officer, Tanya Alburkurk (Rakul Preet Singh), he not only changes the flight’s alternate destination, but eventually sends a ‘May Day’ message just before the flight takes off, a few inches before the flight. Even though Hollywood has precedents for similar theatrical films like Sully and Flight, Ajay Devgn’s directorial is in many ways a first for Hindi cinema, and a clear and pleasant departure from his previous attempts to steer the megaphone. It is hard to miss his development as a storyteller.

State-of-the-art visual treatment of narrative, a crisp storyline (Sandeep Keolani) and screenplay (Sandeep and Amil Keen Khan) with no undue romantic and dramatic digressions or gaps, smart use of VFX, moments of thrill that kick off a first Halfway through, the film’s sound and production design are some of the undeniable plus points of the film.

Even though its runtime is around two hours and 28 minutes, it doesn’t take that long, and engages in both the thrill and drama departments in equal measures. Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Ajay’s acting is well crafted and on-point with their characters. The music mixed with the story also lends itself well to the proceedings.

However, there could have been more drama and layering in the trial-led second half. To begin with, even though the screenplay continues to closely examine whether it was the weather conditions or the pilot’s mindset that led to the “May Day” call, it misses out on addressing some important questions.

One of them, for example, why did the pilot choose not to divert to the flight’s designated alternate destination despite being prompted by his first officer? And why was this angle not sped up enough during the closed door test?

Smaller supporting characters such as the aviation journalist, the angry businessman and the man recording video on his phone in flight felt that he would have more purpose in the test parts. Sadly, they didn’t. Also, though Boman Irani makes his presence felt, he doesn’t have much scope to perform.

However, Runway 34 must be experienced in the way it depicts the scariest and almost devastating aviation accident in recent times with engaging characters, adventure and drama. Although the films have been shot in pieces large and small inside airplanes, it plays wonderfully on the psyche of the audience,

It shows what can go wrong if the weather doesn’t support a flight’s landing and when one has to race against one to make a decision. watch. Overall, the movie doesn’t take much time to taxi down the runway; It takes off quickly and keeps you hooked until you exit the aisles of the theater.
