George Maxwell Alagiah OBE, a British journalist, newsreader and TV news presenter is George Maxwell Alagiah.
Since 3 December 2007, he has been presenter at BBC News at Six. He was also the former principal presenter at GMT on BBC World News, which was launched on 1 February 2010.

George Alagiah is a BBC broadcaster who has said that he feels fortunate for his life, despite the fact cancer could “probably kill me in the end.” In April 2014, Alagiah was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. He also had lymph nodes and liver cancer. Alagiah stated that he would take a break from his duties in October to address the “further spread” of cancer.
Alagiah talks to Craig Oliver, an ex-director of communications at Downing Street about living with the disease. “I don’t know if I’ll be capable of getting rid of this thing,” I still have cancer. He said that the cancer is growing slowly in an interview with Oliver’s podcast Desperately Seeking Wisdom.
He stated that although he wouldn’t wish for cancer, he wouldn’t trade the years of living with it for anything. The presenter stated that his cancer diagnosis had helped to clarify what was most important in his life.

George Alagiah, 66, is an old man. He was born in Colombo (Ceylon) on November 22, 1955. Donald Alagiah was his father and Therese was his mother. His father was an engineer. Her mother was originally from Sri Lanka.

His coverage covered everything, from the Rwandan genocide to southern Iraq’s Marsh Arabs to the civil wars of Afghanistan, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
He began his career at BBC Six O’Clock News on January 2003. From October 2005 to October 2005, he presented with Sophie Raworth, then with Natasha Kaplinsky, until October 2007. Since December 3, 2007, he has been the only presenter on Six O’Clock News. He was previously the BBC One O’clock News and BBC Nine O’clock News deputy anchors since 1999.

George is the World News Today presenter on BBC World News and BBC Two. He has been doing this since 3 July 2006. The show was rebranded GMT 1 February 2010. The last time he was on the show was in 2014. Geroge was previously a BBC News at Ten relief presenter, appearing mostly on Mondays or Thursdays when main presenters Huw Edds and Fiona Bruce were not available.
