For the last few days, wherever you look, there is only one discussion going on. An innocent 11-year-old girl has gone missing in a small town in East Texas. No one knows where she went, what happened to her. The whole city is discussing only this thing.
Well, this morning when I saw me on TV, today’s news starts from there. After about 24 hours, some information has been found about the search for this missing girl. The information that the honorable officers and policemen have made continuous efforts and obtained is very sad.
Police officer Lion told a press conference this morning that the body of this 11-year-old girl named Audrey Cunningham was found near the Trinity River. Hearing this the poor officer himself became sad. “I am deeply saddened to break this news and share my deepest condolences with those who knew, cared for and loved Audrey,” he said.
Now 42 year old Don Steven McDougall has emerged as the suspect behind this incident. McDougall also has a long criminal record. He lives in a camper van behind Audrey’s father’s house. This house is located about an hour away from Houston.
Police said that this McDougall has confessed that last Thursday around 7 am he had gone to drop Audrey to the school bus stop. He says he has done this many times before. But this time Audrey neither boarded the bus nor reached school.
After this the search had started and all the villagers were united and helping. But now that Audrey’s body has been found, a case of murder will be filed against McDougall.
The District Attorney said, “Based on all the evidence we have collected, we are preparing an arrest warrant for Don Steven McDougall. We feel the most appropriate crime in this case would be the murder of Audrey Cunningham.”
If more evidence is found in the investigation, then perhaps this case may also become eligible for death penalty. But nothing can be said on this yet. We should all just pray for Audrey.
